After a short hiatus our sketch meets are making a comeback, this time to the McCully-Moiliili Public Library (the site of last September’s Mini-Con). We’re joined by Hachi-Maru-Hachi Manga and Short Story Anthology magazine featuring original manga by local artists.  We will start things off with a demonstration and discussion on how the manga in Hachi-Maru-Hachi was created and continue the festivities with how-to manga drawing activities and collaborative games.  Interested in drawing manga of your own?  Don’t be shy, come talk to us and we can help you out with the process!

Come early at 10:30am to hear a talk by comic artist Ray Friesen, author of such playful titles as “A Cheese Related Mishap,” “Cupcakes of Doom,” and his newest release “Pirate Penguin vs. Ninja Chicken.”

  • Sun, May 5+19, 1-4pm
  • Pearlridge Shopping Center, 98-1005 Moanalua Rd.

Looking to continue your creative streak throughout the weekend? Our friends at Comic Jam Hawaii are always looking for new artists to jam with. Join them on the 1st and 3rd Sundays in May at Pearlridge Shopping Center!

Comic Jam Hawaii is a social get-together of local artists: professional, aspiring, and hobbyist who do collaborative cartoons, illustrations, and sketches while talking story. All abilities levels are welcome, all they ask is for participants to have fun and join in where they’re comfortable. Group drawings are collected at the end of each session and scanned into their Facebook group page.
