  • Sunday, August 19
  • 11am-3pm
  • Honolulu Museum of Art, 900 S Beretania St.
  • FREE ADMISSION

Since 2004, Bank of Hawaii has made it possible for the Museum to open its doors to the public free of charge on the third Sunday of every month. Family Sunday offers a program of art activities, entertainment, and film focused on an exhibition or art principle. A big thank you to Bank of Hawaii for sponsoring this entire event!  Check out our program of events and activities below:

ART PROJECTS

Make Manga: Visitors can work one-on-one to complete a drawing with one of these artists: Audra Furuichi (co-creator of Nemu*Nemu), Sarah Kashiwabara, Jon J. Murakami, Ming Qi Vinci, Darold Ramelb, and animation students from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. After working with the artists, the children will bind all their drawings together to make a book.

Anime Expression: Kids can bring a drawing to life by making expression marks such as thought bubbles filled with hearts, a drop of sweat, and happiness-radiating diamond-shaped sparkles. They’ll connect the drawings to headbands.

Join members from Pen & Ink Works as you draw in one of several collaborative story-scrolls.

Bring in your anime-inspired artwork for review with award-winning Midweek Cartoonist and teacher Roy Chang.
